Starting with the Basics
Need assistance with collaborate? Here are several short videos to help you . Check out these guides for more information:
Classroom Chatter
Engage with your students using HD video, audio, and webcam features. Collaborate can display up to 5 video sources at once. Never get lost with who is talking as the video jumps to the active speaker. Chat can be removed if needed.
File and Application Sharing
Share files with drag-and drop features or choose to share an application such as PowerPoint, web browser, or a document.
Breakout Groups
Randomly assign students to groups to allow them the opportunity to work together as teams. Participants can even create their own groups.
Mobile
Recorded sessions are available in a mobile friendly format. Captured video, audio, and shared content can be played back as an MP4 file. Students can also join your collaborate session from their mobile devices by downloading the mobile app.
Security
There are four core features of the Collaborate platform that help ensure a secure virtual classroom experience:
-
Restrict participant permissions – This feature enables instructors to ensure that only session moderators can control the whiteboard, video/audio, and chat features.
-
Secure authentication – This ensures students are able to access only those virtual classrooms assigned for their course.
-
Unique session links – This enables instructors to send a secure, unique link to session participants (LMS not required).
-
Restrict access – This enables instructors to restrict the list of those who can enter their virtual classroom, by disabling access by unauthenticated users.
Please reference this to help you navigate all of the security features within Collaborate. It includes helpful instructions for administrators, instructors, and users.
